Start in Time

The reason for the title is that the slightly odd (rhythmically) beginning to this piece is designed to make you think very carefully about pace and pulse BEFORE you actually start to play. This is in contrast to what I have noticed many pupils doing over many years, that is, start to play and then realise that the tempo does not really work and have to adjust it somewhere along the first couple of lines. So, if you have a pupil who does this (and I know you have), this piece may help them to get into the habit of setting the pace before playing!
